Jeanne Fair, PhD

LGNA Member and Director of Guild Membership
Dr. Jeanne Fair served as a scientist in Modeling and Observations of Earth Systems Group at Los Alamos National Laboratory for 30 years with a focus in global health security and environmental sciences. In October 2025, she became the Chief Scientist for the Global Conservation Institute. From 2013-2016 she was on assignment as a Science Program Manager with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency’s Biological Threat Reduction Program working with Central Asia and the Middle East. Dr. Fair’s research interest of 35 years is to support zoonotic infectious disease detection capabilities and understand the impacts of environmental stress on human and animal systems. Over the decades, she has led numerous international research teams spanning over 20 countries, and in 2025 the EpiEarth project she co-led at Los Alamos National Laboratory won three R&D 100 awards. Driven by a passion for connection, Dr. Fair focuses on building dynamic research networks and sharing best practices for successful scientific collaboration. She literally wrote the book on the subject—authoring Scientific Collaboration: Strategies for Successful Research Teams with Johns Hopkins University Press. Her academic foundation includes a B.A. in Zoology from the University of Northern Colorado, a M.S. in Fishery and Wildlife from Colorado State University, and a Ph.D. in Evolutionary Biology from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
