Ric Lutz
LGNA Partner. Action-Jackson. Skier. Veteran Advocate. Invented the slogan "get 'er done".
Ric started his business career in banking and spent twenty-three years in progressively responsible positions, with a special focus on small business planning and finance. He was the Executive VP in charge of all lending at his last banking engagement. In that role, Ric worked directly with dozens of small business owners on both tactical issues and strategic planning, helping identify challenges and opportunities for growth. As part of his responsibilities, Ric would analyze his client’s business operations, financial management, cash flow requirements, and growth financial needs. He was the Chief Compliance Officer for his last bank engagement and successfully managed all Minority Lending transactions. Through Ric's management, the bank earned the status of a Certified SBA Master Lender and was named a top SBA 504 Lender in the Kansas City Metro area.
Ric also served on numerous county and city Boards of Directors, dealing with local and state government officials, politicians, and union leaders. Ric helped create multiple feasibility studies including as an example, Kansas City's analysis of Reducing Landfill Capacity with Waste to Energy Plants. He also sat on the county's Financial Task Force that made SBA 504 Loans to new and existing businesses.
Working with Clay County Missiouri leadership, Ric worked on numerous projects to attract firms to relocate to Clay County. He would meet with the target company owners and senior management to present the economic advantages of relocation (or expansion) to Clay County. He also participated on several different boards that analyzed and recommended financial strategies for all the County's Departments, ranging from Jails & Police to new county-owned golf courses and other public recreation facilities.
A lifelong small business advocate, Ric is also an entrepreneur, and currently owns Kansas City's only ‘Deconstruction Company’; Green Deconstruction, Demolition and Salvage. He has a unique community-centric offering with this company; Ric employs a specially trained appraiser who values the contents of both private homes and commercial properties and itemizes the content that can be recycled and reused. His teams then deconstruct the buildings by hand and salvage all the materials possible. He then donates the contents to Habitat for Humanity; the property owners receive significant tax breaks with planning assistance from his designated tax advisors who specialize in that area. In addition, Ric is currently working with small businesses in the Kansas City area, offering management guidance in sales and marketing, customer relations, financing, and contract negotiations. His straightforward mission is to help companies grow profitably. An avid sports enthusiast, Ric enjoys ice hockey, softball, the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals and was a competitive ski-jumper in college. For the past 30 years, his passion for hockey extended to managing Men's Leagues in Kansas City. This role involved securing ice time, scheduling games, assigning referees, and collecting rink fees. Through this experience, Ric continued to hone exceptional interpersonal skills, even developing some effective counseling techniques – all thanks to dealing with some colorful hockey knuckleheads over the years! Ric attended the University of Colorado, Boulder, and the University of Missouri, majoring in Business and Finance
